Choose the right physical format
Use a compact key-ring tag for keys and a larger flexible or rigid tag for luggage. The QR should stay flat enough to scan, have strong contrast and keep a clear blank zone around the code. Avoid placing it where metal edges, scratches or folds can cover the modules.
What to show on the physical tag
Print the FindVault brand, “Scan to Return”, a unique tag ID and the QR code. Do not print the owner’s phone number or home address. The dynamic scan page should handle contact choices so the owner can change them at any time.
Travel privacy settings
For routine travel, Private Recovery mode can keep the phone hidden and allow a secure finder report. Direct Contact mode may be useful during a trip, but the owner should switch it off later if it is no longer needed.
Safe luggage handover
Use a public location, verify a unique identifying detail and complete the finder-held OTP only after the correct bag or key set is returned. Never send payment or sensitive identity documents to an unknown finder.
What a scan alert can and cannot prove
A scan alert confirms that someone opened the recovery page. It does not prove that the person physically has the item unless they submit details or start a recovery case. Repeated scans can be flagged for review, but they are not automatic evidence of theft.
Choose a FindVault recovery tag
Compare products, select privacy mode and activate the tag after delivery. The QR remains the same while owner-controlled profile details can be updated.
